Peak 6 Debuts to Fanfare in Breckenridge Colorado

All is abuzz throughout Breckenridge Ski Resort for the opening of Peak 6 over the holidays.  The Colorado resort opened two lifts to great fanfare, accessing 543 additional acres at the enormously popular ski area.  New Breckenridge Colorado real estate is sure to follow.  Contact Breckenridge Colorado Realtor Kim Stevenson for more information.

Peak 6 is set apart from the other four ski peaks in the Breckenridge Colorado resort. Therefore, the theme, “Follow Your Senses” appropriately leads skiers to discover the new and exciting terrain.  Even long-time Breckenridge skiers will discover the awesome ski trails on Peak 6.  They were named through a contest with intuitive titles such as Bliss, Euphoria, Intuition, Nirvana, and Rapture.Summit County real estate

West of Denver in the Colorado Rocky Mountains of Summit County, Peak 6 is the northernmost of five mountain peaks of the Ten Mile Range.  Ski terrain on Peak 6 offers a diverse mix of blue and black runs, opening new types of skiing and snowboarding.  The overall experience is “a dramatic improvement to the already huge resort,” explains Larry Olmsted in USA TODAY (12/27/13).

Peak 6 is plump full of intermediate runs, the skier’s choice for most of the patrons of Breckenridge.  These “blue run” clientele will have access to terrain above the tree line for the first time ever.  Intermediate skiers will find a variety of new features including winding corduroy, glades and trails interspersed with trees, steeper faces, and a back bowl.

Chairlifts named Zendo and Kensho provide a four-passenger boost from the base of Peak 6 and a high-speed, six-passenger chair to the top of the mountain.  The first section includes a black diamond expert trail, eight intermediate trails, intermediate bowl, and an area for tree skiing.  The adventurous can hike 10 or 15 minutes to Serenity Bowl and Beyond Bowl.  There are at least 20 double black diamond and extreme chutes.

At the end of Serenity Bowl is a steep, north-facing chute with a 45-degree entry point.  That’s ESP, a feature that just may become the signature challenge at Breckenridge Resort.
A ski vacation to Breckenridge Colorado with discounted lodging, meals, gear, and lift tickets can be arranged through the town’s website or Peak 6 Promotions Packages.  Normal full price lift tickets are $119 per day during peak times, with discounts offered for multi-day passes and during off-peak times.
